The second of three teens who threw bricks off highway bridges was sentenced today in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.
The 16-year-old Brook Park boy broke down before Judge Thomas O'Malley and cried as he was given a sentence of six months in detention that he won't have to serve if he performs 60 hours of community service, probation, makes restitution of about $1,000, writes apologies to some 40 victims and has no contact with his two co-defendants.
Wednesday, O'Malley imposed the same sentence on a 15-year-old from Middleburg Heights, except that boy owes $4,000 in restitution. More than 40 people sustained car damage in March while driving through Strongsville, Brecksville, Independence and Westlake on Interstates 71 and 77 and the Ohio Turnpike. One driver was injured. The third teen has not yet been scheduled for sentencing.
